In 2021, the Late. Martin Oducu (a volunteer zookeeper) lost a battle to cancer, living behind a young family of a wife with a three year old son. It was a challenging moment for the wife since she had no income sources or formal employment to take care of the young boy and take him to school. Since then, ZKAU has mobilised funds to take the child to school.

ZKAU is using this strategy to build a much bigger school fees fund to mobilise funds from well wishers to attract funds to send underprivileged children bordering the conservation areas who are denied a chance for education because their parents cannot afford to take them to school because of human wildlife conflict, their harvests are limited / compromised by the problem wildlife such as the baboons, elephants, monkeys etc. these children are forced to guard the gardens from these animals at the expense of missing out school.
